修丽可创立于1997年，由美国杜克大学抗氧化先驱Dr. Pinnell 教授创立​。他成为杜克大学成员长达40多年，其中15年担任首席皮肤学主任，并以皮肤学专家及科学研究院的身份，课题包括外涂维他命C、抗氧化剂、胶原蛋白合成及光侵害等。2006年被欧莱雅收购，​2012年正式进入中国。

真正让大家记住修丽可的是来自Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology的一个实验。实验利用鞣花酸治疗色素沉着，实验持续了12周，对象为25-60岁不等的75名女性和7位男性。实验将其平均分为2组。实验组持续2周使用0.5%的鞣花酸、15.1%的羟基苯氧基丁酸、酵母提取物和水杨酸；对照组使用含4%氢醌乳霜，夜间使用0.025%维A酸乳霜。
